Located on the pacific coast of Costa Rica, the southern zone surrounds the gulf dulce region.
From golfito, to the beaches of pavonas, punta blanca, zancudo and the osa peninsula, the area is recognized regionally as the last unspoiled coastal region of the beautiful country of Costa Rica. Known for its amazing biodiversity, the gulf dulce is one of only four tropical ocean fjords in the world and is the tenth-deepest cut. Truly a rare marine ecosystem, and is now protected by the government of Costa Rica.
To the north, is the Golfo Dulce forest reserve and Piedras Blancas national park that remain largely unexplored.
On the western side is the famous Osa peninsula which national geographic called “the most bio-intense place on earth” and is home to Corcovado national park.
on the eastern side of the gulf is Golfito national wildlife refuge, further south is pavlovas, where surfers from around the world make a pilgrimage to its famous surf break, which is the second-longest left in the northern hemisphere. the towns of pavonas, Punta Blanca, and zancudo are a surfing mecca. a wonderful place to live with many local farms, pescadoro’s, and the indiginous people of the guaymi.
